"New" artist Pat Montes is no stranger to the stage. He was born in Lufkin, Texas, and at the age of five, his dad began teaching him to play guitar on an old Silvertone electric. A year later, at Christmastime, he received the ultimate gift--his own acoustic guitar! His first public performance was at a Valentine's party in second grade, and he entertained at school functions throughout his high school years. He entered numerous talent shows, played for convalescent homes, jamborees, banquets, athletic events--anywhere he could show off his multiple talents.

At age seventeen, Pat was performing at adult parties, dinner clubs and bars. He and his brother, Chris, established The East Texas Travel Band, which lasted two years. The next few years were spent drifting in and out of other groups. By this time, he had become a seasoned songwriter, lead vocalist and guitarist, and had also learned to play fiddle, mandolin and bass guitar. Pat was the lead singer for the group, Murphy's Law for seven years. One member of the band, Jim Reese, also played with the Bobby Fuller Four, which released the hit single in the 1960's, entitled "I Fought the Law and the Law Won".

Pat has opened for many artists, including Gene Watson, Lee Greenwood, Southern Pacific, Mason Dixon, Foster & Lloyd and others. His unique style entertains audiences, both young and old. He also impersonates artists like Willie Nelson and other well-known acts, which usually brings the house down. Pat is a full-circle entertainer.

Pat has just completed his new album, to be released soon on Willow Wind Records. He has his first radio release, "The Narrow Trail", written by Austin Cunningham and James A Shamblin II. It can be found on HMG’s Christian Country Compilation Disc, Volume 6, Cut #10, which also includes MCG Curb artist Jeff Carson and Decca Record’s LeAnn Womack! "The Narrow Trail" hit #5 in the CCRB chart last week. Although Pat is a full-fledged country music entertainer, he is quick to let you know that God is first and foremost in his life. I personally have never seen him sit down to a meal without bowing his head in prayer.

To see Pat perform, one has to ask, "Could this be the next George Strait? Mark Chestnutt?" Pat invites you to come--see for yourself!
